HERS (Home Energy Rating System)

HERS is the state program by which third-party inspectors (special inspectors) are used to verify credits and installation procedures used under Title 24.  Some of these tests are required under certain conditions.  When needed, the property owner or project contractor may contract one of these HERS Raters to evaluate, test, diagnose, and/or report on various aspects of the project.  As a Rater, we do not repair anything.  We are here to inspect, test, and diagnose only.

Test results are electronically recorded and uploaded to CalCERTS, our HERS provider.  The information is then sent to the state energy commission once a year for processing.  For tests being required under Title 24, a numbered certificate is filed with the state, local building department, and CalCERTS.  A copy of the certification is also provided to the contractor and property owner.
